Concert and Mind Body Connection

  • Google Calendar ICS

The concert will feature guest artist, Andy Anderson, together with Inspiration Team. Using music and spoken word, we take time to connect our hearts, minds, and bodies into one centered experience. We will focus on the vitality that resides in the wildness of our open hearts and the healing that comes with focus on compassion for ourselves and others. We will honor Rev. Kate Wikinson with an Inspiration Champion award. Kate has earned her award for compassionate leadership, commitment to justice, and excellence in service to the community.

Leading the Mind/Body connection experience this year is Leda Muhana

MOVING, BREATHING, LIVING EXPERIENCE – Her facilitation is designed to focus on connections and relationships : between one’s body and its existence and projection in space; between breath and movement; and in between oneself and the other. Movement qualities and the four basic elements of nature underlie the workshop’s explorations.

The monastic community was encouraged to live in the spirit of kindness, simplicity and reconciliation. It’s is an opportunity for you to go within, to sing along when your spirit is moved, or sit with eyes closed; whatever suits your needs. The experience is a time to truly awaken your soul.

Have you ever been told you can’t sing, you shouldn’t speak, or you’re too loud? Do you hear any one of the hundreds of messages that make our voices smaller, seemingly insignificant or that make us want to hide away and be silent? Then, this workshop is for you. Together, in a safe and nurturing environment, we will explore some of those messages, talk about their impact, and together through creative exercises and vocalizations, will begin the process of healing and sending our unique voices out into the universe where they belong.

Presenter: Carolyn Waters

Laughter Yoga: Cafeteria

The spirit of laughter can be cultivated easily with others.  Together, we will do simple, easy, and fun exercises, yogic breathing and deep relaxation leading to a group laughter meditation followed by a sound healing.  We will then experience silence together and explore five vital areas of our life through guided meditation. Women’s Radical Aging: Library 1

Women’s Radical Aging explores our gradual awakening to aging as a practice of listening to ourselves, rather than defining our future self through outside ageist messages of  women growing old, being old.

Using an interactive discussion group designed to energize, we will unpack personal and social attitudes that have influenced us as we journey into the later decades of our lives,

Using prompts, individuals will reflect and write down their thoughts on aging. Together, we will gather themes and identify those attitudes that serve us and those that diminish. We will go about the business of peeling  back the truth about the lives of women aging into their wisdom, into their creativity, into their changing bodies. We will learn to give voice not silence,  to understand community over isolation, and to action over inaction.
